Last summer we were Aussies.....today we are Swazi's!
Unfortunately, there are no kangaroo's in this part of the world....but lots of mountains and spectacular views all over the Kingdom of Swaziland. Did you know that the King has 14 wives and 23 kids? It was also to our surprise that we had to walk across the border to enter this kingdom. All 37 people from our group had to get off the bus....get our passports stamped....walk 50 yards across the border.... get our passports stamped again....and then get back on the bus. But guess what? Everyone received free condoms (i'm not kidding)! It seems this area has the highest rate of HIV in Africa....so they're taking extreme measures! Quite an eye-opening experience!.....a passport in one hand and a rubber in the other!
While the average lifespan of a Swazi is 32 years.....we would only be spending exactly one night in this part of Africa. Why did we come here? Well, to tell you the truth.....the scenery is absolutely gorgeous! The mountain ranges and landscapes are most certainly picture worthy. Our hotel was perched on a mountaintop and from our room balcony we had amazing views of the valley below.
