We're Not In Kansas Anymore...

We're stuck at the Cairo International Airport for a wonderful six hour layover on our way to J-burg.  Luckily, it's one of the cleanest places we've been.....they speak English.....accept the $dollar$......and have free WiFi!  The coolest part was watching the plane land.  One side of the airport is green and stretches out into the city of Cairo.  Looking the opposite direction....you see nothing but dessert sand!  Pretty neat!

We were glad to get out of Rome.  We will certainly not miss the rude Italians.  After disembarking the ship early this morning, we teamed up with four other cruisers and taxi'd our way to the Rome Airport.  Easy and cheap!  The Rome Airport was utter chaos and we waited nearly an hour to check-in.  We had a few hours to kill before boarding our flight....so we chowed down at McDonald's (I actually had my first Big Mac!).

With such a long layover....why not hop on a camel and see the Pyramids!?  Unfortunately, we found out the Sphinx is approximately two hours away from the airport.  It's heartbreaking to be this close, and yet miss seeing the Pyramids.  I talked to a guy on the plane and he said that Cairo is no longer experiencing any of the revolts we've been seeing on TV.  Very safe for us to come back and visit.  Uh, tell that to the two tourists that were recently kidnapped!
